Got mansplained at so, so, so much last night (by two guys who _thought_ they were respectfully debating me, but a conversation in which I have to more than once interrupt somebody else to explicitly state that I get to finish what I was saying is not so respectful, boyos) about fan fiction. They were willing to entertain the idea that it is sorta interesting, and maybe some of it is kind of cool, but really, they mean, the writers are basically lazy. It's not like the kind of respectful interaction with your source that is debugging. Debugging. Srsly. WTF?

Am re-reading "Written By The Victors" to wash away my annoyance.

I don't have much to say about the latest round of fandom racefail, not least because I am only now tuning in long enough to hear about it. Suffice it to say, thoughtlessness and unconsidered privilege can give rise to epically ridiculous choices. (How on earth can someone write a story that long and not once have noticed what appears to be spectacular levels of fail?)

However, glockgal responds by illustrating an AU brown-skinned Sam & Dean encountering Arizona (via lamardeuse), which is full of win. "...they were therefore deported to Mexico. Two hours later Old Man Whatshisface died..."

Also, on someone's post somewhere in there, a link to The Racebending Revenge Ficathon. I'm very looking forward to reading the results.
